Bike Theme Wedding Ideas
I just got married last year and while we kept our day pretty minimal, I decided to showcase my love for bikes by arriving by pedicab (or cycle rickshaw). It was the perfect way to start to my day. The driver and I took our time going from my apartment to Volunteer Park, he would ring his bell as we passed people working on their gardens and they would wish me luck and clap as we drove by. Similar to every other time on a bike, it was a great time for reflection and giving thanks for my life’s many blessings.
As wedding season rolls around, I can’t help but notice all of the sweet ways that others have incorporated a love for bikes into their celebrations. My favorite bike theme weddings have subtle, romantic nods to a shared passion and I’ve collected some of my favorite ideas for you today.
Save the Dates are a more appropriate place for bike graphics, while custom bike stamps work nicely for official wedding invitations.
Why not use bikes for what they are fundamentally meant to do - get us from point a to point b. I loved arriving by pedicab, and swoon when I see a couple or wedding party get to the reception venue by bike, or hell, you could have your guests arrive by bike. Getting around on two wheels calls for great photo opps, both romantic and playful. From top clockwise: Delightful Cycles, Black Eiffel, Yes Bride, Papillionaire, Martha Stewart Real Weddings.
There are also plenty of ways to incorporate bikes into your decorations. My suggestion is to keep it classy and authentic, try to avoid bike overload. If you love DIY, painted wheels used to display escort cards are a lot of fun, as are these abstract bike wheels installation. I also like bikes staged with flowers or signs pointing guests in the right direction.
Let’s not forget about cake toppers and favors - the perfect place for a little kitsch at a wedding.
There are so many great ideas out there and this is just the tip of the iceberg. You can check out my Pinterest Board for other great ideas and bike style.
I agree completely!

These are gorgeous, thank you! My partner and I are getting married next year. I work for a bike magazine and he works for Ride2School, so it would be really fun to include bikes in the wedding somehow!
Thanks so much for including our Save the Dates! This is exactly the kind of wedding we want to part of!!
Love this post! I design wedding stationery and am an avid cyclist. Fun to see people bringing their passions to such an important day.
love this - wish I was getting married again - I would definitely have this as a theme!!! Maybe for our 15 wedding anniversary party :)
